Safety First

At Butlerville, we not only care about the safety and care of our clients, but also that of our equipment. As more and more of you are finding use in our multimedia equipment, we'd like to give a few general machine-handling reminders.

• Follow operational and safety instructions in the manual


• Use equipement safely and only for its intended purpose


• Never force parts of equipment that do not fit or operate easily.


• Don't drop or knock equipment


• Wrap power cords around the leg or handle of a table or trolley


• Prevent heat build-up by allowing adequate air circulation - eg. do not block ventilation slots by placing equipment on a soft surface or by operating it in an enclosed area, such as on a shelf


• Read the manual


• Make sure equipment is OFF when plugging AC cord into outlet


• To disconnect any cord from a machine, grasp the plug. Never pull the cord.

Get Ready For Spring!

Even with all the rising fuel and food prices and airlines increasing fares, spring in Perth can still be filled with plenty of fun and inexpensive activities.

BBQ anyone? For those who need a little extra help with the grill, be sure to check-out the many barbeque or grilling cookbooks available from the Butlerville Public Library.

With beach weather still a couple of months away and for all beach babies, now's a good time to borrow those exercise and fitness books to get back into swimsuit shape!

After a day at the beach, brush off the sand and bring your family to the library. Stock up on books & movies for family fun, travel books for planning that summer vacation trip, and more. There is so much happening at the library, you and your family can keep busy all spring long.

Need some ideas to beat the heat? A really simple yet delicious idea is to whip up some super cool (and healthful) smoothies. How about a sip of “Strawberry Nectar” or “Pineapple Crush?” If you have little ones and are stuck for fun and creative activities, get some help from Family Fun&Feast magazine. You'll fill up family time and bellies!

From picnics to parties, the Butlerville Public Library has great resources to make family time fun time. Kid-friendly cook books, music CDs and craft ideas involve everyone to make spring special.

We have organised an exciting lineup of Children as well as Adult Summer Programs just for you. Be sure to visit the library’s website & join us for some spring fun!

Spring Time Is Play Time!

Spring is just around the corner and we at Butlerville want to usher it in with drama! Lounge on the green outside the library and catch a play (or six!) over the spring months. Collaborating with talented local actors, we are putting on some well-loved plays by Shakespeare. Whether you’re a Shakespeare lover, or you want to introduce your children to the wonderful world of theatre, this is a wonderful opportunity. With an outdoor performance every other Saturday, starting September 13th, it's drama time! Don’t forget to bring your blankets, easy chairs and a bite to eat and make it a truly memorable time for you and your loved ones!

All In The Family

Ever wondered who your ancestors were and where they came from? If you thought mapping out your family tree means traipsing around the world ala The Amazing Race and the sleuthing skills of a spy, guess again. Now you can explore your family’s story right from your own library.

Take a genealogy workshop —on Saturday, September 20th, at 1 PM—offering hands-on assistance by experts as you learn how to use Ancestry.com and search the appropriate databases to begin your family tree. Future workshops will be held on the first Saturday of every month.
